MindArch Health Awarded Stony Brook University HECMR Mini-Grant to Design a Landmark Platform: Preventive Primary Behavioral Healthcare
PORT JEFFERSON, NY — July 14, 2026 — MindArch Health Inc., a pioneering predictive health intelligence company and a Stony Brook University (SBU) affiliate incubator company at the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT), today announced it has been officially awarded a $30,000 mini-grant from the SBU Office of Health Equity and Climate Medicine Research (HECMR). The grant funding accelerates the development of "Phase 0" of MindArch’s Averting Risk, Cultivating Health (ARCH) predictive engine, designed to move behavioral healthcare from a model of reactive crisis management to proactive, pre-emptive clinical interception.
The award marks a critical milestone in Stony Brook University’s ongoing initiative to deeply integrate incubator companies within its academic and clinical ecosystem. By anchoring MindArch Health's social impact platform within University research infrastructure, this grant activates a strong, cross-campus translational science partnership. MindArch will collaborate directly with faculty and researchers across the SBU Department of Biomedical Informatics and the Graduate School of Health Informatics, while laying the structural groundwork for large-scale federal research partnerships and future clinical trials.
Bridging the 11-Year Treatment Gap via Translational Science
At present, frontline primary care providers are forced to address mental health reactively. This is largely because existing rating scales only facilitate treatment referrals, and most patients do not follow through with care, which often culminates in crisis outcomes. Additionally, physicians are constrained by covered services that exclude necessary time for social, behavioral, and lifestyle evaluations and prescriptions. This challenge is further compounded by a lack of data on clinical determinants, which prevents Electronic Health Records (EHRs) from generating useful risk predictions, leaving them to output static alerts that fail to support proactive and preventive clinical care delivery.
Consequently, 95% of systems wait for a crisis before intervening, 58% of providers are burnt out, and an average 11-year gap persists between a patient’s initial symptom onset and the receipt of formal clinical care. These issues drive catastrophic patient outcomes and incurs over $200B in avoidable, high-cost emergency room and crisis management expenses across the healthcare system.
MindArch’s ARCH engine will bridge this gap through a translational science lens, turning decades of longitudinal data into real-world, real-time clinical utility. Utilizing a HIPAA-compliant data environment, the interdisciplinary team will map de-identified longitudinal EHR data to isolate the sub-clinical "pre-event signatures" that statistically dictate a patient's risk trajectory long before acute symptoms surface.
Precision Data-Driven Social, Behavioral, and Lifestyle Prescribing
The ARCH engine is built to drive a more holistic, salutogenic view of the patient. Instead of limiting a patient's profile to basic symptom tracking, the platform maps their long-term trajectories alongside everyday life events, social vulnerabilities, and basic socioecological needs.
At the center of this innovation is MindArch’s 5-Elements of Systemic Wellbeing Framework (evaluating how Secure, Regulated, Valued, Decided, and Related a patient is internally and within their environment). When the ARCH engine identifies an elevated risk signature, it equips primary care wellness teams with the information needed to execute precision, data-driven social, behavioral, and lifestyle prescribing to strengthen gaps in protective factors proven to buffer against preventable stress-related diseases and disorders.
This systemic, precision data model contrasts legacy population health tools. By providing primary care groups with clear trend analyses at the macro population level, ARCH allows health systems to structurally drive down crisis rates, capture substantial Value-Based Care (VBC) reimbursement, and move behavioral health equity from a cost burden of interest into a sustainable revenue-generating approach.
A Global Standard: Building on the UK Model
MindArch’s infrastructure-level approach scales up lessons learned from global initiatives like the United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS) social prescribing framework. While the UK's massive rollout of Social Prescribing Link Workers proved that connecting patients to non-clinical community support successfully improves patient outcomes and dramatically reduces the cost burden on general practices, the model has historically relied on manual self-referrals or post-symptomatic clinician identification.
MindArch evolves this methodology by introducing predictive precision through advanced technology. Instead of waiting for a patient to self-identify in a state of adversity, ARCH introduces the software automated logic to intercept the trajectory years earlier.
A Rigorous Commitment to Health Equity
In direct alignment with the core mission of the HECMR, the grant funding will explicitly support a comprehensive Health Equity Algorithmic Bias Audit executed alongside SBU Medicine faculty consultants. This step ensures that ARCH's predictive variables properly weight Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) variables, preventing historical systemic disparities from being baked into modern clinical software.
